Spring is settling in on the four Missoula-area rivers. Flows have come off the early-week peak and are starting to drop and clear, but every river is still running high.

Western Montana is in classic late-April spring transition: high but generally fishable flows, water temps still cold (41–48F), and the dry-fly window opening up day-by-day on the Bitterroot, Clark Fork, and Rock Creek behind Skwalas, March Browns, and BWOs.

Rock Creek has been fishing well but the conditions are nudging in the wrong direction — flows bumping, visibility dropping a little, and pressure picking up on the easier-access stretches.
